Reading Space Corner

This project aims at encouraging the children to read as soon as they begin their education.

The goal is to have a space at the center of our Day Care, so that children will always pass by it. The space needs to be colourful and playful, as our children are still of preschool age. Since children at that stage still learn a lot by imitation, the idea is to have teachers read for the kids and allow them to leaf through the books as they wish, creating their own stories and telling them in class.

The books should also be at the children's reach, placed in shelves or devices their size. No tall bookshelves!

The budget for creating our reading space involves purchasing the following items:

• Table and four chairs:: R$848,00
• Shelf for the Reading Space: R$ 765,00

• Piece of furniture for the Reading Space: R$ 425,00
• Piece of furniture for the center of the Reading Space: R$ 940,00

Chapel and Toilets Renewal Project

Casa Santa Ignez is supported mostly by the revenue generatedby the rental of its halls for events (which are less frequent in Brazil’s current situation) as well as an agreement with the City of Rio, which provides R$300 per kid every month, for just 48 kids. According to a study done by Fundação Getúlio Vargas, each kid costs R$950 per month.

We currently need to renovate our chapel. There is a largeinfiltration on the walls, the floor needs varnish, and the altar pieces require restoration.

Fundraising goal: R$ 22.000,00

Donations may be made in the form of building materials, sand, concrete, quicklime, and stones for coating the walls.

Besides, we need to reform the toilets adjacent to the chapel sothat they can be more easily accessed.

All the material we need has been donated, but we still need to pay the workers who will conclude these renovations.

Project for the Renewal of the Garden and the Toilets

Casa Santa Ignez is supported mostly by the revenue generatedby the rental of its halls for events (which are less frequent in Brazil’s current situation) as well as an agreement with the City of Rio, which provides R$300 per kid every month, for just 48 kids. According to a study done by Fundação Getúlio Vargas, each kid costs R$950 per month.

Currently one of the neighbours complains about the noise from the few receptions taking place at our halls, even if they alwaysend before 10 PM. We still don’t have enough resources to meet the budgetnecessary for changing the roof we have for one made of acoustic tiles. As Casa Santa Ignez does not have many sourcesof revenue, the rental of this space is very important for our activities. Besides, we need to build a toilet with access for disabledpeople in order to meet the ever growing demands of this public. This will entail the renewal of our existing bathrooms.

Project for Replacing 15 Computers

Casa Santa Ignez needs to replace its computers. Not only the machines are obsolete, they have already been cannibalizedmany times so that we could keep our computer lessons. By now the situation is untenable and we need new computers. Each complete Dell unit costs R$2.738,00.
